MEI LIU
ACUPUNCTURIST
Bachelor of Chinese Medicine, Postgraduate Masters Degree of Herbal Medicine
When I was a little girl in China, I was always on some kind of western medication for my severe childhood fevers. Though the drugs were useful for my immediate problems, it was also making me weaker and thus recurrence was common.
At the age of six my mother decided to try some thing new. Chinese medicine effectively built up my strength so that I eventually regained my health.
While studying for my year twelve HSC, I was still not sure what I wanted to do afterwards.
When I discovered that I could study Chinese Medicine at UTS, I successfully applied and quickly fell in love with this ancient art of healing. After achieving my Bachelors degree I went on to complete a Postgraduate Masters degree of Herbal Medicine at Sydney University.
I have also been fortunate enough to have the chance to study directly under two very experienced Chinese Medicine masters from China, and continue to learn more and more from them every day. These teachers showed me that Chinese Medicine is not just about the art of making people better, it also teaches us a way of living.
Achieving true lasting health is not about fast bottle cures that make us feel good temporarily, but don't get to the root of our problem! It must eventually lead us to examine and shift the factors in our lives that allow disease to prevail in the first place. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are powerful tools to aid us in making our bodies, minds and awareness stronger. |
