Sutra Meditation with Teya:
Teya has been directly involved in the fields of alternative therapy and personal development for over 12 years. Teya's search for her own healing led her to study many different modalities and to the practice of various forms of meditation and yoga. The form of meditation that she now teaches is Sutra Meditation (SM). It is the culmination of her experiences, combining meditation with a gentle breathing technique, with the aim of stilling the mind and transcending the constant mental chit-chat and unresolved daily stress that often locks the mind-body system into tension and anxiety. The technique itself is easy to learn and does not require any focus or special effort. In fact it promotes effortlessness.
Sutra Meditation does not focus on quietening the mind but, rather, this is the natural end result of this practice. Regular practice of SM leads to increased awareness, increased productivity, more focuses, rejuvenation of the mind and body, as well promoting self-healing and rest. Some students report a sense of inner-peace - even bliss - when they are in mediation. These results are cumulative - and tangible rewards can be measured after a short time of regular practice.
There are many systems of meditation. However, they mainly fall into two categories: concentration and contemplation.
Concentration involves effort - and inevitably keeps the mind lively and active.
Contemplation, on the other hand, involves thinking about something. One thought leads onto another and, again, the mind remains active.
Sutra Meditation is neither concentration nor contemplation. It is a form of transcendence with the purpose of discovering a stillness that can with regular practice lead one to discover the true Self. Some meditations include a Sanskrit mantra - a sound that has no specific meaning, just a vibration. SM, however, is based on a Sanskrit Sutra a sound, like a mantra, but with the specific meaning or purpose of awakening our state of consciousness. Sutras are used to assist the mind to resonate with particular universal qualities, such as, compassion, acceptance, self-love and non-attachment. It also expands our state of consciousness, thus facilitating self-healing. Permanent healing starts from our shifts of consciousness due to increased awareness of self.
Sutra Meditation is not mind-control, mental discipline or concentration. You don't have to control your breathing or muscles. You don't even have to try to relax. You learn a simple technique that facilitates a completely natural process: an ability to still the analytical mind and awaken the dormant parts of our mind-brain, which contain unlimited potential and creativity for expressing life and promoting self-healing.
Teya teaches Sutra Meditation either individually or to small groups. If your would like individual guidance on this technique ring our Norwest number to make a booking. Or get a couple of like minded friends and come and learn a simple, beautiful form of meditation together.
