Smoking Cessation Information

In a recent stop smoking study, where smokers attended individual hypnotherapy for stop smoking, over three sessions, 81% had stopped smoking after the treatment ended, and at a 12 month follow-up nearly 50% remained smoke free. And 95% of the people were satisfied with their
treatment.*

Numerous studies have shown that the success for stopping smoking using hypnotherapy is much higher than nicotine replacement products. In 1968 Von Dedenroth reported in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis a stop smoking success rate of 94% over an 18-month period.

It is considered that the success rate will depend on the techniques used by the hypnotherapist and by the desire for the smoker to stop smoking. Hypnosis works to help people break the habit of smoking. It can also help people become more calm, so that there are little or no withdrawal symptoms
on stopping smoking.

Generally, any good Stop Smoking Program takes 4 to 5 hours. If you stop smoking on a one hour short program, you risk the mind switching to another addiction in order to escape from something that needs handling.

Theoretically, smoking is a smoke screen to escape from an underlying problem(s). Better to take your time and handle the underlying issue than to go too fast and just switch to another addiction such as drinking, over-eating, etc.

Mention all your addictions so that the Hypnotherapist can make sure all of them are handled. In other words, do it properly.

You are done with your Stop Smoking Sessions when you can be a non-smoker. If you can't stop smoking from your Hypnotherapy sessions, it simply means you are not done handling your underlying problems so you need to keep going until you have handled them.

There is no need to use patches or any other assistance when doing Hypnotherapy Stop Smoking. In fact, it's better not to use anything else so the Hypnotherapist can see if you were able to stop smoking.

If you take one of the popular prescription medications from your GP, they are made to stop you smoking while you are taking them so the Hypnotherapist can't tell if you stopped smoking because your issues have been handled or if the medication did it.

Things to note about taking medications to stop smoking is there are some pretty serious side-affects. Do a Google Search and read about them.

Also, the drug companies recommend you do some kind of counselling while taking their drug - this begs the question - are you stopping because of the drug or because of the counselling/hypnotherapy?

They also don't promise that you will continue as a non-smoker after you finish your prescription drug.

Many people report how easy it is to stop smoking using hypnosis.
