Depression may be emotion or chemical induced.

What is Hypnotherapy and how can it help get rid of Depression?

Hypnotherapy is many things. You might be surprised these days at the number of different things a Hypnotherapist may do to assist people to get the changes they want. Much more than just hypnosis can be used to handle Depression such as changing depressing mind pictures using Neuro Linguistic Programming or pulling them out with Time Line Therapy or re-programming the mind with Subconscious Mind Healing. This grab bag of mind tools makes it possible for us to do things to help people that are quicker than conventional ways and very effective in taking out emotional problems related to Depression.

Is Hypnotherapy weird or “out there”?
Not really. When the body is full of unresolved mind issues resulting in illness, the person can feel depressed. To un-depress someone like that, it is a matter of efficiently finding all their disagreements and getting the person to resolve them. If the issues are left to fester, they can really incapacitate a person emotionally and physically. Hypnotherapy and the related energy techniques enable the mind to make changes pretty quickly.

Does it take very long to handle Emotion-based Depression?
It depends on how many issues you have. I have people think in terms of four sessions at a time and then take a break. Depression commonly has many unresolved issues that have been left go for a long time so two or three blocks of 4 sessions would be the norm.

What common things do you see in Emotion-based Depression?
Mainly, it is toxic relationships coming at the person from many people in addition to childhood events that are negative and being triggered. Co-dependency behaviors always seem to need to be addressed as well so that the person can understand people better. Also, depressed people have lots of illness caused by feeling stressed and stuck that may improve as sessions progress.

Will Hypnotherapy work on all Depression?
No. Only with Depression that is based on emotional problems of the mind. Depression caused for other reasons would needs other handlings.

Holistic mental health combines the benefits of talk therapy with other alternative mental health therapies such as diet and nutrition to achieve optimal psychological functioning.

It emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, mind and spirit and utilizes methods outside the realm of conventional psychotherapy.

Unlike traditional psychiatry, instead of medicating the brain with toxic drugs, it attempts to find the underlying cause of the psychological symptom that is exhibited.

Main stream medicine or psychology has a very limited understanding and knowledge about the role of body chemistry in mental health and the impact of diet, nutrition and chemicals in the environment on the brain.

The physiological and psychological have a profound impact on one another. Good mental health can't exist without attending to the physical and spiritual matters and vice versa.

Holistic mental health addresses psychological problems from the bio-chemical angle.

In the bio-chemical approach there is no such thing as "mental" illness in and of itself. Any so called "mental illness" can always be linked to something physiological as the root cause. Mental disorders, conditions, illnesses etc., are the result of bio-chemical disorders with symptoms that exhibit in the psychological arena.

What appears to be a psychological symptom is really triggered by something in body chemistry or environmental sources such as pesticides or other chemicals.
Diet Nutrition and Your Mental Health
One of the most important elements of holistic mental health is the role of diet and nutrition.

Psychological disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, Hyperactivity, Learning Disorders, Bi-polar Depression, Manic Depression, Alcoholism and Schizophrenia can be treated quite successfully with diet and nutritional supplementation, as well as changes in lifestyle and improving air quality in the environment.

The brain is dependent on adequate supplies of nutrients in order to function properly, when it doesn't receive these nutrients then the deficiency is exhibited in a variety of negative symptoms in thought, mood, emotion, perception and behavior.

Mental health is deeply affected by factors such as pesticides, food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, Candida overgrowth, hormonal imbalances, common every day chemicals in your environment, hypoglycemia- low blood sugar, food additives, hypothyroidism - low thyroid, and preservatives.

Symptoms from these issues can range anywhere from mild melancholy to suicidal depression. They may include anxiety, outbursts of anger, Autism, Hyperactivity, Schizophrenia and Mania, obsessive compulsive disorders, memory difficulties, learning disorders, Paranoia and Agoraphobia.

For example, many people have found that eliminating dairy and wheat products from their diet can greatly reduce the symptoms associated with Schizophrenia and Autism.

While others have amazing results in relieving Depression, Autism, Anxiety, Hyperactivity and just about any psychological problem you can think of by following a Candida Diet.

And yet many other people have found relief from these same afflictions with supplementation of a variety of vitamins and minerals like B-complex and magnesium.

Other alternative mental health methods may include cleaning up toxins from the environment, pinpointing food allergies that may exist, identifying any possible metabolic disorders such as hypoglycemia or malfunction in systmes such as hypothyroidism.

Depression
Through my personal and professional experience I have found that, regardless of the diagnosis, at the root of most mental and physical health conditions, including chronic pain, are one or more of the following:
Nutritional Deficiencies
Poor Diet
Food Allergies or Sensitivities
Candida Overgrowth
Environmental Toxins

Signs and Symptoms

If you notice any behavioural changes that last for more than two weeks in family members or friends, then it is worth asking if the person may be depressed.

Common behaviour associated with depression includes:

moodiness that is out of character
increased irritability and frustration
finding it hard to take minor personal criticisms
spending less time with friends and family
loss of interest in food, sex, exercise or other pleasurable activities
being awake throughout the night
increased alcohol and drug use
staying home from work or school
increased physical health complaints like fatigue or pain
being reckless or taking unnecessary risks (e.g. driving fast or dangerously)
slowing down of thoughts and actions.
Checklists to Identify Depression

Below are links to some simple checklists that are quick, easy and confidential. These questions are designed to help you reflect on your situation or that of someone close to you. They will not provide a diagnosis - for that you need to see a professional. However, they will tell you if you have symptoms that are common in people with depression. If you think that you or someone you know has depression, please consult a doctor.
